We’re excited to launch the Next Generation CCLR—a transformative update designed to simplify, modernize, and revolutionize our CCLR tools for students and staff. These latest updates, coming throughout 2025, focus on four key areas:

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment
A recent study conducted by American Student Assistance (ASA) revealed that 79% of high school students are interested in Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences, but only 34% know how to find and access those opportunities. Naviance CCLR is committed to bridging this gap and making WBL accessible to all students. By connecting students with hands-on learning opportunities in the industries they are exploring, work-based learning plays a pivotal role in creating pathways that connect classroom learning with real-world careers. This approach enhances skills, employability, and industry connections, benefiting both students and employers. New, work-based learning in Naviance CCLR will include:
- An employer portal that makes it easier to connect students with organizations by allowing staff to invite their employer network for free.
- Students can receive personalized opportunity recommendations based on their career interests and preferences
- Comprehensive work-based learning management, including tracking for engagement, hours, volunteering, and digital signatures
- Easy to access reporting for engagement and hours tracking and data alignment to support state mandates
- Students can receive personalized opportunity recommendations based on their career interests and preferences
Personalized Postsecondary Planning for Every Student
New tools and enhancements will help personalize students’ college and career exploration experiences and empower them to find their best-fit path toward their future goals.
Enhanced Career Exploration
Naviance CCLR career profiles are getting a glow up, with more personalized career exploration that highlights how careers align with the interests, strengths and skills that students identify through self-discovery assessments. The updated career profiles will include more video content, including career overview videos and inspirational interviews with professionals and leaders from Roadtrip Nation. Additionally, Naviance CCLR will be the first CCLR solution to provide students access to information on more than 60,000 credential and certificate programs, enabling more learners to connect with a wider range of pathways to achieve their goals.

Personalized College Search and Planning
New, personalized college profiles highlight how colleges align with a student’s interests and preferences and the improved college search makes it easier to find and explore colleges that might be a good fit. Additional enhancements to support students’ college planning processes include:
- Downloadable Unofficial Transcripts: Students can view and download their unofficial transcripts directly from Naviance CCLR, with an unofficial transcript watermark included on the document to distinguish it from official records.
- Request Outside Letters of Recommendation: Students can request letters of recommendation from recommenders outside of Naviance CCLR and send reminders when the deadline is getting close. External recommenders receive an email inviting them to upload their letters directly to Naviance CCLR via a secure link.
A More Efficient Staff Experience to Maximize Counselor Impact
Research shows that when counselors have more time for direct student interaction, student outcomes improve, including higher attendance rates, better academic performance, and increased college enrollment. The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) recommends a 250-to-1 ratio of students to school counselors, yet in 2023-2024 the national average was 376-to-1. In 2025, Naviance CCLR will reimagine the staff experience with new tools designed to cut tedious administrative tasks, so counselors can have time back to focus on their students.
Customizable Staff Dashboard
The new staff dashboard offers a modernized look and a more action-oriented design. The dashboard is customizable so that each school and user can make sure that the information that is most important to them is always front and center.
Enhanced Reporting and Analytics
- Naviance CCLR has enhanced integration with your SIS for rostering to ensure that student information is up to date. One Roster support makes it possible to import staff data, eliminating manual data entry.
- Access new visualizations better tell the data story. New reports have also been added to track Work-Based Learning, Elementary, Success Planner, and College Visits.
New, College Application Management Tools
- Write more polished and personalized letters in less time. Our AI for Letters of Recommendation feature assists in drafting tailored letters based on student achievements pulled from their Portfolio.
- Bulk send submission manager saves valuable time by providing a single location where staff can view and send all eDoc materials ready for submission rather than navigating to individual student folders for each submission.
- The FAFSA Tracking feature includes a new FAFSA submission section that students can easily update. Staff can see insights, either in aggregate or within individual student folders, to better understand which students have submitted the FAFSA.
Empower Students and Staff with PowerBuddy for College and Career
A More Powerful PowerBuddy for College and Career
Last year, we launched PowerBuddy for College and Career, the first AI assistant designed to help students explore careers and plan for their futures. This year, PowerBuddy for College and Career will be able to connect students with relevant WBL opportunities, share information about upcoming college visits and events, and match students with scholarship opportunities.
An AI Assistant to Save Staff Time and Maximize Impact
PowerBuddy will be available for staff soon, making understanding student engagement as easy as asking PowerBuddy a question like, “How many of my students have favorited careers?” It also includes how-to videos and navigation assistance to help staff get the most out of Naviance CCLR.
